The two leaders agreed to restore links between the two countries in the fields of diplomacy, trade, communications and transport, as well as reopening their borders. This was followed by a major joint declaration of ABBY and Isaiah, on 9 July stating that the state of the war that existed between their two countries for 20 years had ended. Abby has also committed to solving other regional conflicts, serving as a mediator in conflicts between Eritrea and Djibouti and between Kenya and Somalia and the Sudan's civil conflict. In 2019, Abby was the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to resolve the border conflicts of Ethiopia with Eritrea.
